Bold Freedom - A Red Lipstick Movement
Share
Today is memorable in many ways, especially for us women and our rights. It’s a day to stand tall for our own independence. What can be more patriotic and bold than uniting and empowering one another while looking pretty darn stunning!
Throughout history we saw how many women fought for their rights and ours wearing what became part of their “uniform,” red lipstick. Like the great American poet Robert Frost said, “Freedom lies in being bold.”
“Freedom lies in being bold”
As we commemorate our Independence this fourth of July, one can't help but think about how freedom is such a fragile word yet at the same time it's powerful, daring and full of strength.
Wearing red lipstick has been a signifier that has carried multiple meanings, but one of the strongest is its innate power to attract attention. Red lipstick not only empowers women to feel their best, it comes with an invisible cloak of courage no other cosmetic has.
The evolution of red lipstick has gone from using crushed red gemstones and white lead during Mesopotamia over 5,000 years ago, to flushed beetles and red ochre crushed into a paste catering Cleopatra’s requests to our Classic Red Matte Liquid Lipstick infused with olive fruit oil that will enhance your lips.

La Parfait Cosmetics’ tips to make your lips red-ready
- Exfoliate plus moisturize. Just like we do with our face, we also need to remove dead skin cells from our lips to make our skin softer. Applying moisturizer or lip balm will help us apply lipstick evenly.
- Prime them and Line them. Priming our lips will be able to bring out the natural color of the lipstick and make sure you choose a lip liner that is similar to your lipstick. Keep in mind the lip liner prevents the lipstick from bleeding.
- Apply your lipstick. You want to start applying lipstick on the bottom lip first, then apply it on your upper lip. Here’s a little trick: dab a bit of tissue paper on your lips after you’ve applied the lipstick to make its staying power ultimately kiss proof.
- Get a pro finish and clean up the edges. Do it like the pro makeup artists and use makeup remover to clean any smudged areas around your lips. Then dab some concealer on a lip brush to line the outside of your lips. This will give you a seamless and sharp edge.
- Rock the look. You can wear your matte lipstick as is or you can apply clear gloss to make the color shine bright. Whatever you do make sure you rock your look by always smiling!
